Startup founders commit Rs.50 Crores to turn around govt schools

Startup founders of the Young Indian Philanthropic Pledge (YIPP), which is led by Accel’s founding partner Prashanth Prakash and Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath have signed an MoU with Karnataka to work for lifting the quality of education at select government schools under the Karnataka Model Schools

Recently in the presence of Education Minister BC Nagesh and Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, The MoU was signed for Pathways Programme (KMSPP).

The YIPP said in a statement that the initiative involves applying the best techniques and practices with the help of leading ed-tech companies in government schools to build teacher capacity, and set up physical and digital infrastructure for achieving better learning outcomes, higher enrolments and retention of children.

“The objective of this programme is to create a replicable template for the schools under the National Education Policy (NEP) across the country,” said Prakash. He also added that about 10 organisations together will drive the programme by converging civil society efforts.
