Launch of a startup for banana farmers

by Startups Insight

The country’s first full-stack supply chain, which links banana growers, merchants, and exporters on a single platform, has been introduced by Kerala-based agribusiness firm Greenikk. According to a statement from the startup, which was co-founded by Fariq Naushad and Previn Jacob, it would seamlessly connect banana producers, dealers, distributors, and B2B buyers in the nation.

According to the statement, “the platform will assist farmers in converting post-harvest banana plant stems into natural fibre and repurposing the remaining leftovers as manure or chicken feed.” India is the largest banana producer in the world, hence this would increase India’s fruit exports.

In Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka, three of the largest banana-producing states, Greenikk has established enablement centres (EC). These centres would offer the farmers the necessary assistance, such as financial assistance, seeds, crop consulting services, insurance coverage, agro inputs, including weather forecasts, and market connections, addressing every aspect of fruit production and commercialization.

The business intends to open these centres in states like Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and others.
